Rush Recruiting
Dear Future Rush Hockey Player,
It is with much pride that I draft this letter.
Our inaugural season exceeded expectations and solidified the Rapid City Rush as a premier professional hockey organization. With double-digit sellouts and over 130,000 fans walking through the doors at the new Civic Center Ice Arena, the support for the Rush has been unparalleled. After starting the season on the road in anticipation of the completion of our new arena and making our home debut on November 29th, it is clear that Rapid City has become a hockey town in only four short months. This made possible by our three local owners who are committed to keeping Rapid City Rush a first-class operation in all facets.
To start, Rush owners Scott Mueller and Barry Peterson collaborated and together built brand new townhomes exclusively for Rush players. Team housing consists of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom townhomes that accommodate both single players as well as families. Each townhome is fully furnished with TV’s, internet and cable, washer and dryer and complete landscaping. Rush townhomes are located across the street from the Red Rock Golf Course, owned by Donny Ward, part of the Rush ownership group. Players enjoy 18-holes of free golf on the #1 rated semi-private course in South Dakota by Golfweek four years running.
Next is the new Civic Center Ice Arena, a $30 million state-of-the-art facility. For Rush games, the arena holds 5,119 fans that includes 12 luxury boxes and over 300 club seats. The arena also features NHL tempered glass and the largest video board in South Dakota with a size of 22’ x 40’. Within the new Civic Center Ice Arena is the Rush locker room and training facilities. The Rush benefit from an exquisite locker room that rivals any at the AHL or NHL level. With over 600 square feet, the locker room is fitted with 23 custom stalls with two extra wide (36”) stalls for the goaltenders. The second Rush locker room is used as a changing, lounge area and training room complete with 20 custom stalls as well as full weight and core training equipment. Both areas include six, 42” flat screen HDTV’s. The training room features three medical beds, hot tub, cold tub and commercial ice maker.
While away from Rapid City, the Rush travel first-class on a $650,000 top-of-the-line sleeper coach. The bus sleeps 29 and includes individual 10” flat-screen TV/DVD combos in each bunk along with four 36” flat-screen TV’s. Included are three satellite receivers with full hockey package and three entertainment centers, a bathroom, kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave and sink.
The support that our players received from the people of Rapid City has been incredible. The way the city has embraced this hockey club and its players has truly made the Rapid City Rush the community’s team.
In my 20 years of professional hockey, I can say without a doubt that Rapid City is the best organization and set up that I have experienced. I thank you for taking the time to explore what the Rush has to offer and I look forward to seeing you in a Rush uniform come October.
Sincerely,
Joe Ferras

Housing

Rapid City Rush players live in the premier golf course community Red Rock Meadows. Located on the outskirts of town, Red Rock Meadows offers sensational views of the rolling Black Hills with all the charm of city amenities. The community features a neighborhood park with a full-size basketball court, city water & sewer, school bus stop, and is walking distance to the Red Rock Golf Course club house.
Rush players live in luxury in custom built town homes completed in 2008. Each town home is fully furnished including all living essentials including dishware and drapery. Plus, lawn care and snow removal is provided. They offer two or three bedrooms on the main floor with two bathrooms and an open floor design. The town homes are located next to each other so commutes to and from the arena are ideal for those teammates without a vehicle. In addition, the team bus departs and returns from Red Rock Meadows to offer even more ease when traveling.
