Strong Third Period Lifts Rapid City to 4-1 Win Over Thunder

(Wichita, KS) – The Rush remained perfect against the Wichita Thunder on Saturday night with a 4-1 victory at the new INTRUST Bank Arena. Rapid City was led by Jon Pelle and Les Reaney who both had multi-point efforts. The Rush have picked up six of a possible eight points through the first four games of a seven-game road trip.

(Independence, MO) – On Friday night, the Rush got back into the win column with a convincing 5-2 win over the expansion Missouri Mavericks. With the win, the Rush finished the season 5-0-0 against the Mavs and maintain their share of first place. Rapid City received goals from five different skaters while the penalty kill was perfect for the fourth straight game.

(Southaven, MS) – On Thursday night, the Rush dropped their second straight shootout to the Mississippi RiverKings, 4-3. The loss marks the third shootout loss of the season for Rapid City as the Rush are just 3-for-19 in shootouts and now 1-for-5 on penalty shot attempts. Rapid City picks up one point for the shootout loss which brings the team into a tie with Colorado for first place.

(Southaven, MS) – On Tuesday morning, the Rush took part in the seventh annual “Face off Field Trip” at the DeSoto Civic Center. The Rush battled back twice in regulation, but were shutout in the shootout as the RiverKings came away with a 3-2 victory. Rapid City killed off all eleven of the ‘Kings powerplay chances, returning the penalty kill unit to 2nd in the league.

(Rapid City, SD) – The Rapid City Rush looked to be on their way to victory on Saturday night, but the Laredo Bucks had other plans. The Bucks scored four unanswered goals in the third period to rocket past the Rush 5-3. The loss was Danny Battochio’s first since November 20th and snapped his 12-game win streak.

(Rapid City, SD) – Not surprisingly, the Rush found themselves in another close contest with the Gorillas on Wednesday night. Rapid City used four straight goals for the 6-4 comeback victory and extended their lead to four points in the Northern Conference. Les Reaney paced all skaters with a four point effort while Jon Pelle netted two on the night for his fourth game-winner of the season. The game marked the 100th contest for the young franchise.

(Rapid City, SD) – On Tuesday night, the Rapid City Rush and Amarillo Gorillas were, yet again, in a close battle that was undecided until the final moments. The Rush were held off the scoreboard for over forty-four minutes, but received a pair of third period goals from Luke Erickson who propelled the team to victory. Erickson’s game-winning goal was scored with less than two minutes left and was the first lead for the Rush all game. With the win, Rapid City now moves to 25-9-1 and claims sole possession of first place of the Northern Conference.
