Professional Public Address Announcer

Part Time

The Rush is looking for an experienced and qualified back-up Public Address Announcer to fill-in periodically on game nights.

Time Requirement: This is a back up/understudy position. Hours will be dependent upon schedule and availability. Availability on scheduled games will be required at least two hours prior to game time.

Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of the sport of hockey, including penalties, pronunciation, and rules.
  • Flexibility in scheduling. Must be able to easily fill-in on game nights and work immediately.
  • Some professional announcing experience is required. Prior sporting event experience is ideal.
  • Strong knowledge of the Rush Organization, as well as the Central Hockey League.
  • Must be able to focus and articulate in a high stress, fast paced environment. This includes announcing on the fly, calculating game time, and calling penalties and goals in the correct technical manner.

Internship Program

Welcome to the Internship Program for the Rapid City Rush. After completing a successful Inaugural Season, Rapid City Rush is thrilled to be offering its Internship Program again to the Black Hills region. It is our goal to provide internships to college students that are rewarding both academically and professionally.

Our internships are offered in a variety of areas throughout our organization. Depending on the nature of the position, internships vary in length and time of year. Most of our internships are unpaid and require that applicants are students who will be receiving academic credit for their work experience. In order to be considered, students must be able to provide verification that credit will be awarded upon successful completion of his or her internship.

Day of Game Operations/Promotions

Time Requirement: attendance at all home games is required with exceptions made under certain circumstances. Candidates must be enthusiastic, outgoing, and reliable.

  • Flexible schedule & willing to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Assist with pre and post game ceremonies, events, and activities
  • Assist with in-game promotions
  • Assist with on-ice activities and promotions between periods
  • Reliable transportation
  • Enjoy working with the public & conveys positive attitude

  • A knowledge of or desire to work in hockey, marketing or sports entertainment

Public/Community Relations

Time Requirement: full and part-time positions available. Attendance at home games is required. Candidate should be motivated and task-oriented and possess strong communications and language skills. Writing experience is preferred.

  • Assist in compilation and distribution of game notes
  • Assist in writing and distributing team media releases
  • Distribution of statistics between periods to media, management and coaches
  • Press box setup and coordination
  • Write stories and features for team website and team publications
  • Correspondence to include general letter writing and fan mail response

Graphic Design & Web Programmer

Time Requirement: hours flexible, but up to 20 hours per week is preferred.

  • Support marketing and public relations in creating attractive designs for use in various media including billboards, print, web, etc.
  • Creative design of team publications, including game day program and media guide
  • Knowledge and experience in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and/or Quark Xpress
  • Expertise in Flash and knowledge/experience with Action Script
  • Ability to meet deadlines and accept constructive criticism
  • Reports to Director of Sales & Marketing

Sales and Marketing

Time Requirement: Interns are expected to be available to work home game nights and daytime hours may be adjusted in accordance to classes.

  • Assist Corporate Sales in assembling media kits and sales proposals for client presentations
  • Assistance with customer service program with season ticket holders and group leaders
  • Maintain sales related spreadsheets, statistical data, and Rush lead development databases
  • Data entry and clerical task to include answering phones, scheduling meetings & filing
  • Attendance at vendor fairs as a representative of the team
  • Preparation of fulfillment packages for clients
  • Preparation for meetings with and presentations to future partners
  • Support season and group sales efforts
  • Assist Merchandise Supervisor with inventory, team store sales & online purchases
